Books-empower.com will serve as a launching point for readers seeking information to improve and enhance their lives. This website will focus on two main sub themes. Within those pair of major focus points you'll find some specific topics that I hope will provide value to your information search.
Our two major subject areas will involve cardiovascular system health and improving financial literacy. While these two areas may seem to be non-related, I hope to show you that in fact there are very definite parallels between them. Without a doubt, concern about finances and apprehension regarding the future has a bearing on cardiac health and on the
lifestyle choices affecting that health.
I'll offer the advice of some amazing authors. Their expertise in specific subjects will fit into our road map to achievement. Far too many people never take the time to set goals. And sadly, many who write down aspirations give up on them too soon. Our featured authors will help you avoid those pitfalls.
In just about 4 minutes, Steve Maraboli gives us a pathway to a life well-lived!
In this subsection we'll provide a link to our most recent full page. You can also find new pages in the blog lineup.
Our most recent full page is part two in our series about how to stop overeating.
As the new year begins, lets start making better choices in our lives. Dr. David Kessler presents some great information in his new classic book, "The End of Overeating."

Stephen Covey is one of my favorite authors. I believe his methods of seeing the end result and making sure goals are aligned with core values is vital. We'll never give everything we have to a plan that features an end result that is not in line with our most deeply held ideals. Just below is an image of properly aligned goals.
I think we have more challenges to confront but information can prepare us to survive and even thrive regardless of what is ahead. With relevant knowledge and solid work effort we can all handle adversity. A wise person once said,"If it is to be, it is up to me." This website will strive to be the spot to find the reference materials that provide the direction.
My background is in the mortgage business and I've also purchased and renovated houses for re-sale. While practical experience is vital, the things I learned from relevant how to texts saved me loads of time and helped me to avoid repeating efforts that have been proven to not work. My website will strive to serve that same purpose for any visitor.
Another part of my background involves a family history of heart disease. My Dad died far too young from a heart attack that was brought on by hypertension. His father also died from cardiovascular system related conditions. So I have a very focused reason to be aware of what causes these conditions. And a keen interest in helping people, including myself avoid heart disease.
In the far right column you'll find an original image from our in house artist highlighting the four chambers of content for a healthy heart that we will focus on at books-empower.com. Just below is a magazine cover that featured my Dad doing what he loved to do. He was a highly skilled bass fisherman. Relaxation techniques are important to good heart health. Sometimes we don't remember that in time.
There are so many diseases that we just don't fully understand. We are faced with conditions that even to this day can only be managed. But the number one killer of both men and women in America isn't on that list of unknowns.
Heart disease kills more people than all cancers combined. Other associated conditions that affect the cardiovascular system include kidney disease, type 2 diabetes, arteriosclerosis, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. All of these ailments can be stopped and even reversed.
At books-empower.com we are committed to providing quality information to assist you in avoiding this number one killer. We'll give you some heart healthy diet ideas and some ingredients to avoid. We'll give you reference sources loaded with timely information to help you keep your cardiovascular system strong.
All the financial literacy information in the world and pages of data on how to do it yourself is of no value if you are not healthy enough to go out and do it. It begins with lifestyle change. Childhood obesity is at epidemic levels. This leads people down the road to diabetes and other conditions that ultimately add to the death count from heart disease.
It isn't necessary. Helping people improve their diet and do the simple things required to get heart healthy is one of our biggest goals. It may not all be easy, but it is simple.
You will find a three part series that explains why it is so difficult to stop overeating for many people. You will see why the food industry is able to program people to respond to sensory cues. This very scientific method actually overrides the executive decision making part of the brain.
Millions of dollars are spent each year on weight loss programs. In this series you'll see why most fail. But with this empowering knowledge of how the system works, you will be able to overcome it. Like everything in life, knowing why will tell you how to stop overeating.
The directory in the left margin contains all the pages I've posted about cardiovascular health.
Some of those pages are directly related to what I believe is not only the very best form of weight loss program, but also the finest overall diet plan. It is so important that we've added a button in the navigation bar in the left margin. That tremendous healthy eating program would be.....
As this section continues to progress, you'll find an overview of the entire concept. You'll see how versatile this plan really is and how it will work for everyone. You'll find a list of foods included in the Mediterranean diet. And you'll find menu ideas for breakfast and for dinner. I've even included a page with snack ideas.
But it is much more than just menu options. This section is all about cardiovascular and brain health. Weight loss programs are part of this effort. Understanding the dangers of inflammation and belly fat along with how to eliminate these hazards are part of this area at books-empower.com.
Finally the truth is coming out about the failed promises of those low fat, high carbohydrate diets that were so heavily pitched by mainstream media for decades. The meteoric rise in obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease and Alzheimer's disease are the remnants of that faulty advice.
We've featured several expert authors who will guide us off that failed path and back on the road to improved health, more energy and heightened effectiveness. Yes, following this plan will help in all three areas.
The page directory contains the specific postings related to reasons to embrace the Mediterranean diet and how to reverse the damage already done by ineffective diet practices.
Near the end of this page, just past our video of the week section and immediately before the call out box containing our mission statement, you'll find an insightful infographic concerning basic health guidelines for a long, healthy, productive life.
We'll present some reference sources to deal with goal setting and how to get past the roadblocks that seem to hold many of us back. Procrastination is one of the biggest culprits in this area. I have an excellent edition to help with that challenge.
Preparing our children for success in a changing world is one our biggest challenges. But as our kid's most important teachers, we must be up to the task. I've devoted a section of books-empower.com to information that will help you with this vital task. I've borrowed some lyrics from Graham Nash for the title of this navigation button.
"Teach Your Children Well" contains pages presenting a financial literacy curriculum, a beginners guide to investing, a page about the importance of true character and some historical pages. These are included to help your children understand how we got to this point.
You'll also find some information about the student loan situation. This program has spiraled into a dangerous situation for many young people. I'll offer some suggestions to help ease the problems associated with this government run program. The clock below should scare us into teaching better financial literacy.
The directory in the left margin shows the pages linked to the button titled "Teach Your Children Well."
Macroeconomics is a word that will be used in publications over and over in the coming months. We'll present some fantastic business chapters that will help our readers know what is ahead and what to do about it. Deflation and inflation will be in the news quite often too. We'll give you some authors with great insight.
I will add in a variety of book reviews on topics very relevant to our current economic situation. Parts of this section will be considered contrarian investing when compared to what we hear from mainstream media and television "experts".
But the Business and Investing Books section will consist of authors who years ago accurately predicted this "fiscal cliff" and the bubble economies that led us to this point. And these same writers will give their advice on what is next and how to protect our assets.
I'm in that "thinking about retirement" age bracket. I'll pass along some excellent self help options for other folks in that group. Included in this area will be business and reference sources to offer how to do it yourself possibilities.
All the posted pages from this section can be found in the page directory located in the left margin.
Or have we slipped into a pattern of habits that do not include quality reading? Have you ever heard anyone say, "I only read the sports page"? Have you ever said it? Please remember that example isn't everything. It is the only thing. Our children may not hear everything we say, but they notice everything we do.
Just below is an image that illuminates the power of reading. You'll read pages within books-empower.com stating that accomplishments in a school setting are no guarantee of success in life. But you will see throughout this web site that reading empowering books will provide an advantage and laser focus.
Be sure to check out the books-empower news button in the left margin. There are some excellent columns listed in there every day. In particular, the heart health news items offer timely information for all of us. I've also included a search bar for you to look up any specific information. As with all the pages at books-empower.com, we value your opinion. Please use the "Contact Me" button in the left margin to add your questions or suggestions.
The books-empower blog will touch on a number of topics. I would certainly encourage your opinion. If you'd just like to follow along, be sure to use the orange button to get the daily blog sent directly to your favorite spot to see it every day. It is very easy to set this up. This blog site will touch on current events within our two sub themes. Very often you will see a series of daily postings that run in a sort of succession format as we build on information presented in previous pages.
I encourage discussion from visitors to books-empower.com. Varied opinions and ideas can only improve the experience for all of us. And it should be fun as well. The acronym for team is,"Together We Achieve Maximum."
Our mission statement at books-empower.com is just below. Line five applies to more than just economics.
